The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 on a Great Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do! 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 A book inscribed, 20 which the angels placed near Allah to safeguard. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 On thrones, watching. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
