Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a lofty garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and prepared goblets, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
