Animals (Al-An 'aam)
165 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr) before The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who created the heavens and the earth and made the darkness and the light. Then those who disbelieve equate [others] with their Lord. 1 It is He who created you from clay and then decreed a term and a specified time [known] to Him; then [still] you are in dispute. 2 He is Allah in the heavens and earth. He has knowledge of all that you hide and all that you reveal. He knows what you earn. 3 Yet whenever any of their Sustainer's messages comes unto them, they [who are bent on denying the truth] turn their backs upon it: 4 and so they give the lie to this truth now that it has come unto them. In time, however, they will come to understand what it was that they were wont to deride. 5 Observe they not how many a generation before them We have destroyed whom We had established on the earth as We have not established you, and upon whom We had sent the rains of heaven pouring and under whom We had made the rivers flow; yet We destroyed them for their sins and We produced after them a generation of others. 6 But even if we had sent down unto thee [O Prophet] a writing on paper, and they had touched it with their own hands - those who are bent on denying the truth would indeed have said, "This is clearly nothing but a deception!" 7 They ask: 'Why has no angel been sent down to him' If We had sent down an angel, their fate would have been determined and they would never have been respited. 8 If We had made him an angel, We would have given him the resemblance of a man, and would have as such confused them with that in which they are already confused. 9 And indeed before your time (O Muhammad!) many a Messenger has been scoffed at; but those who mocked at them were encompassed by the Truth they had scoffed at. 10

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
