This, (Quran), is certainly the revelation from the Lord of the Universe. 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 Was it not a proof for them that the learned men of Israel knew about this? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 who would have read it to them, they (pagans) would not have believed in it. 199 In this wise have We made way for it into the hearts of the culprits. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the grievous Penalty; 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 Then they will say: "Can we be respited?" 203 Do they want to hasten Our torment? 204 Have you then considered if We let them enjoy themselves for years, 205 and then what they were promised comes to them, 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners - 208 for a reminder; and never did We wrong. 209 The devils did not bring it down. 210 they are not supposed to do so. Nor do have they the ability for such a task. 211 Indeed they have been banished from the place of hearing. 212 Hence, [O man,] do not invoke any other deity side by side with God, lest thou find thyself among those who are made to suffer [on Judgment Day]. 213 And admonish thy nearest kinsmen, 214 and extend kindness and affection to those of the believers who follow you. 215 But if they disobey you, then say: Surely I am clear of what you do. 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 or move during your prostration with the worshippers. 219 for, verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! 220 Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every lying, wicked person, 222 Who gives ear (to the devils and they pour what they may have heard of the unseen from the angels), and most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets -- it is the misled who follow them. 224 hast thou not seen how they wander in every valley 225 And that they say what they practise not?- 226 Save those that believe, and do righteous deeds, and remember God oft, and help themselves after being wronged; and those who do wrong shall surely know by what overturning they will be overturned. 227
