And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 Do not betray me 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
