The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 unto a mighty day 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 A Register inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 They will suffer the heat of fire 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 The sinners had been laughing at the believers. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
