Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
