Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
HaMeem. 1 By oath of the clear Qur’an. 2 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand. 3 It (the Quran) exists in the original Book with Us which is certainly Most Exalted, full of wisdom and (beyond linguistic structures). 4 Shall We then (warn you not and) take away the Reminder (this Quran) from you, because you are a people Musrifun 5 How many a Prophet We sent among the ancients, 6 but whenever a prophet came to them, they mocked him, 7 and so, [in the end,] We destroyed them [even though they were] of greater might than these: and the [very] image of those people of old became a thing of the past. 8 Yet, if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will answer: 'The Almighty, the Knower created them' 9 Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and placed roads for you therein, that haply ye may find your way; 10 And Who sendeth down water from the sky in (due) measure, and We revive a dead land therewith. Even so will ye be brought forth; 11 it is He who created all living things in pairs and gave you ships to sail in and beasts to ride upon 12 So that you may properly mount their backs, and may remember your Lord’s favour when you have mounted them, and say, “Purity is to Him, Who has given this ride in our control, and we did not have the strength for it.” 13 “And indeed we have to return to our Lord.” 14 Yet they assign to some of His slaves a share with Him (by pretending that He has children, and considering them as equals or co-partners in worship with Him). Verily, man is indeed a manifest ingrate! 15
