The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
