Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Ha Mim: 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Most Merciful. 2 A Scripture whereof the verses are expounded, a Lecture in Arabic for people who have knowledge, 3 A bearer of glad tidings and a warner. Yet most of them turn aside, so that they hearken not. 4 And they say: "Our hearts are under coverings (screened) from that to which you invite us, and in our ears is deafness, and between us and you is a screen, so work you (on your way); verily, we are working (on our way)." 5 Say, "I am only a human being like yourselves. It has been revealed to me that your God is One God. So take the straight path to Him and ask His forgiveness." Woe to those who associate others with Him, 6 Those who do not give zakah, and in the Hereafter they are disbelievers. 7 Verily those who believe and work righteous works - unto them shall be a hire unceasing. 8
