The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
