The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 The piercing star! 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 it is not a jest. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
