The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
