The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ AR-RAHMAN 1 Hath made known the Qur'an. 2 Created man, 3 Taught him the mode of expression. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 And the stars and trees prostrate. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 therein fruits, and palm-trees with sheaths, 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels, 14 And created jinns from the white-hot flame of fire. 15 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 18 He has set flowing two seas that appear to meet. 19 but has created a barrier between them so that they will not merge totally. 20 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 21 There come forth from the twain the pearl and the coral. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 25
