The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and flowing water 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for those on the Right, 38
