The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
