The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas rise, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 there he is obeyed and held trustworthy. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
