The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
