And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 You and your fathers? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
