Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the Inevitable Calamity? 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 so he will live in a state of Bliss 21 In a high garden 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 I am bereft of power." 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
