The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
