Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a sublime garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
Almighty Allah's Truth.
