And whatever affliction befalls you, it is on account of what your hands have wrought, and (yet) He pardons most (of your faults). 30 and you cannot elude Him on earth, and you will have none to protect you from God [in the life to come,] and none to bring you succour. 31 And among His Signs are the ships, in the sea, like mountains. 32 if He so wills, He stills the wind, and then they lie motionless on the sea's surface - [and] herein, behold, there are messages indeed for all who are wholly patient in adversity and deeply grateful [to God]; 33 Or He may make them founder for what they have earned, and (even then) pardon most; 34 And (that) those who dispute about Our communications may know; there is no place of refuge for them. 35 AND [remember that] whatever you are given [now] is but for the [passing] enjoyment of life in this world - whereas that which is with God is far better and more enduring. [It shall be given] to all who attain to faith and in their Sustainer place their trust; 36 and who shun the more heinous sins and abominations; and who, whenever they are moved to anger, readily forgive; 37 those who answer their Lord, establish the prayers, and their affairs are by consultation; who spend of that which We have given them, 38 who, when a wrong is done to them, seek its redress. 39 The recompense of a sin is a sin like it, but whosoever forgives and seeks to reform, his wage will be with Allah. Surely, He does not love the harmdoers. 40 And whoso defendeth himself after he hath suffered wrong - for such, there is no way (of blame) against them. 41 Blame lies on those who oppress, and terrorise the land unjustly. For them there is painful punishment. 42 But he who bears with patience and forgives, surely complies with divine resolve. 43
