He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attended to him, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and fearfully, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted, purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing and joyous 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
