In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
SAD. I CALL to witness the admonishing Qur'an. 1 Verily those who disbelieve are in vainglory and schism. 2 How many generations We have destroyed before them! And they cried out when it was too late to escape. 3 And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves, and the disbelievers say: This is an enchanter, a liar. 4 Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!" 5 And the chief persons of them break forth, saying: Go and steadily adhere to your gods; this is most surely a thing sought after. 6 We have heard nothing like this in the latest religion. This is only his own false invention. 7 Hath unto him the admonition been sent down from amongst us! Yea! they are in doubt concerning My admonition. Yea! they have not yet tasted My torment. 8 Or is it that they have the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the great Giver? 9 Or is theirs the kingdom of the heavens and earth and of what between them is? Why, then let them ascend the cords! 10 A host of deserters of the allies shall be here put to flight. 11 Before them, the people of Nooh had denied, and the tribe of A’ad, and Firaun who used to crucify. 12 Thamood, the nation of Lot and the dwellers of the Thicket such were the confederates. 13 Each of them who rejected the Messenger become subject to Our punishment. 14
