ART THOU NOT aware of how far they who call God's messages in question have lost sight of the truth? 69 Those who reject the Book and that with which We have sent Our Apostle; but they shall soon come to know, 70 when fetters will be placed around their necks and chains will drag them 71 Into boiling water, then in the fire shall they be burned; 72 Then shall it be said to them: "Where are the (deities) to which ye gave part-worship- 73 They shall say, 'They have gone astray from us; nay, but it was nothing at all that we called upon aforetime.' Even so God leads astray the unbelievers. 74 [The angels will say], "That was because you used to exult upon the earth without right and you used to behave insolently. 75 So enter the gates of Hell to abide in it for ever." How evil the abode of the arrogant! 76 So be thou patient; surely God's promise is true. Whether We show thee a part of that We promise them, or We call thee unto Us, to Us they shall be returned. 77 Indeed We sent many Messengers before you: of them there are some whose account We have narrated to you and there are others whose account We have not narrated to you. It did not lie in any Messenger's power to bring any Sign except with Allah's leave. So when Allah's decree came, the matter was decided with justice, and those steeped in error courted utter loss, then and there. 78
