The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 And the Book written 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 by the House inhabited 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And as for those who have attained to faith and whose offspring will have followed them in faith, We shall unite them with their offspring; and We shall not let aught of their deeds go to waste: [but] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
