Thamud (people also) belied the warnings. 23 And said: "Should we follow only one man among us? In that case we shall be in error and insane." 24 Has the [Divine] message been revealed to him alone of all of us? No, he is a boastful liar." 25 (We told Our Messenger): “Tomorrow they shall know who is the insolent liar. 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 Tell them that the water is to be divided between them, a drink each for them in turn' 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 Ah! how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 30 For We sent against them a single Mighty Blast, and they became like the dry stubble used by one who pens cattle. 31 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 32 The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. 33 [and so,] behold, We let loose upon them a deadly tempest; and only Lot 's kinsfolk did We save at the break of dawn, 34 As a reward from Us; this is how We reward one who gives thanks. 35 And he indeed had warned them of Our blow, but they did doubt the warnings. 36 Then they even solicited his guests from him, whereupon We blotted out their eyes, (telling them): “Now have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings.” 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 "So taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 39 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 40

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
