In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Keep awake [in prayer] at night, all but a small part 2 Half of it,- or a little less, 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 We are about to reveal to you a mighty word. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 But [whether by night or by day,] remember thy Sustainer's name, and devote thyself unto Him with utter devotion. 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 And bear with patience what they utter, and part from them with a fair leave-taking. 10 And let Me alone with the beliers, owners of ease: and respite thou them a little. 11 for with Us there are fetters, and a furnace, 12 and food that chokes, and a painful chastisement, 13 on the Day when the earth and the mountains will be convulsed and the mountains will [crumble and] become like a sand-dune on the move! 14 Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger. 15 But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold. 16 Then how shall ye, if ye deny (Allah), guard yourselves against a Day that will make children hoary-headed?- 17 [the Day] on which the skies shall be rent asunder, [and] His promise [of resurrection] fulfilled? 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
