The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise and warn, 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 Purify your inner self, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
