A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif Lam Mim Suad. 1 A DIVINE WRIT has been bestowed from on high upon thee - and let there be no doubt about this in thy heart - in order that thou mayest warn [the erring] thereby, and [thus] admonish the believers: 2 Follow that which is sent down toward you from your Lord, and follow not any patrons beside Him; yet little ye are admonished. 3 And how many cities have We destroyed, and Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 and when Our scourge fell upon them, their only cry was, "We were indeed wrongdoers!" 5 We will certainly question the people and the Messengers sent to them. 6 Then surely We will recount unto them with knowledge, and We have not been absent. 7 The weighing on that Day will be the true weighing: those whose scales are heavy will prosper. 8 but he whose scales are light those have lost their souls because they were harmful towards Our verses. 9 We assuredly established you in the earth and arranged for your livelihood in it. Little do you give thanks. 10
