Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 or benefit you or do you harm?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 Ye and your fathers of old? 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 Do not betray me 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
