If anyone withdraws himself from remembrance of (Allah) Most Gracious, We appoint for him an evil one, to be an intimate companion to him. 36 Surely the (devils) obstruct them from the path, though they think they are rightly guided, -- 37 till, when he comes to Us, he says, 'Would there had been between me and thee the distance of the two Easts!' An evil comrade! 38 When ye have done wrong, it will avail you nothing, that Day, that ye shall be partners in Punishment! 39 What, will you make the deaf hear, or guide the blind and he who is in clear error? 40 Even if We take thee away, We shall be sure to exact retribution from them, 41 or We show you a part of that which We have promised them, for indeed We have power over them. 42 Follow devotedly that which is revealed to you. You are certainly on the right path. 43 It is indeed a Reminder to you and to your nation, and without doubt you shall be questioned. 44 And ask thou Our apostles whom We sent before thee: appointed We gods, beside the Compassionate, to be worshipped? 45
