Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 From Fir'aun (Pharaoh); Verily! He was arrogant and was of the Musrifun (those who transgress beyond bound in spending and other things and commit great sins). 31 And We exalted them over the other people knowingly, 32 And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. 33 These men do say, 34 There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again. 35 Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful." 36 Are they, then, better than the people of Tubba and those before them, whom We destroyed because they were truly lost in [the same] sin? 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We did not create them except in Truth. But most of them do not know. 39 The Day of Decision is the appointed time for all. 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 Apart from those to whom God is kind. He is all-mighty and all-merciful. 42
