Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 Upon your heart that you may be of the warners 194 in a clear, Arabic tongue. 195 Truly it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned men of the Israelites know it? 197 And if we had revealed it to any of the foreigners 198 who would have read it to them, they (pagans) would not have believed in it. 199 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty. 200 who will not believe in it, until they see the painful chastisement 201 It will come upon them unawares, and they will not comprehend it. 202 Then they will say: "Shall we be respited?" 203 What! do they still seek to hasten on Our punishment? 204 But hast thou ever considered [this]: If We do allow them to enjoy [this life] for some years, 205 Yet there comes to them at length the (Punishment) which they were promised! 206 what avail will their past enjoyments be to them? 207 Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, 208 To advise; and We never oppress. 209 The devils did not bring it down. 210 they are not supposed to do so. Nor do have they the ability for such a task. 211 Verily, they have been removed far from hearing it. 212 So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty. 213 And warn thy clan, thy nearest kin. 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 And rely thou upon the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 who sees you when you stand up [for prayer], 218 And thy movements among those who prostrate themselves, 219 for, verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing! 220 Shall I tell you on whom the Satans come down? 221 They descend upon all sinful self-deceivers 222 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. 223 And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them; 224 Do you not see how they wander aimlessly in every valley, 225 And that they say what they do not do. 226 Except those who believe and do good and remember Allah much, and defend themselves after they are oppressed; and they who act unjustly shall know to what final place of turning they shall turn back. 227
