The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and a few from later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and shade extended, 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 undiminished and never denied 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
