Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.] 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Most Merciful. 2 A Book whose signs have been distinguished as an Arabic Koran for a people having knowledge, 3 As a giver of good tidings and a warner; but most of them turn away, so they do not hear. 4 And they say: our hearts are under veils from that whereunto thou callest us, and in our ears there is heaviness, and betwixt us and thee there is a curtain; work thou then, verily we are workers. 5 (Muhammad), say, "I am a mere mortal like you. I have received a revelation that your Lord is the only One. So be up-right and obedient to Him and seek forgiveness from Him. Woe to the pagans, 6 Those who give not the Zakat and they are disbelievers in the Hereafter. 7 As to those who have faith and do good works, surely theirs shall be a never-ending reward. 8
