The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
