Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 When they disobeyed the apostle of their Lord He seized them with an overwhelming punishment. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 in a lofty garden, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 Would it had been the end! 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 they did not believe in the great God, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
