Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the sun and its brilliance, 1 And the moon when it follows the sun, 2 And by the day as it shows up (the sun's) brightness; 3 And by the night as it conceals it (the sun); 4 and by the sky and by Him Who made it; 5 And [by] the earth and He who spread it 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 He has succeeded who purifies it, 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 The people of Thamud rejected (the truth) as a result of their rebelliousness 11 When the most wicked man among them went forth (to kill the she-camel). 12 then the Messenger of God said to them, 'The She-camel of God; let her drink!' 13 But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground). 14 And for Him is no fear of its consequences. 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
