Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Dawn 1 and the ten nights! 2 And [by] the even [number] and the odd 3 And by the night when it departeth, 4 is there not in this strong evidence for a man of sense? 5 ART THOU NOT aware of how thy Sustainer has dealt with [the tribe of] 'Ad, 6 of the columned (city) of Iram, 7 Like whom no one else was born in the cities. 8 And with (the tribe of) Thamud, who clove the rocks in the valley; 9 And the mighty Pharaoh 10 who transgressed in the countries of the world 11 And multiplied iniquity therein? 12 and therefore thy Sustainer let loose upon them a scourge of suffering: 13 surely thy Lord is ever on the watch. 14 As for the human being, when his Lord tests him, honors him, and grants him bounty, he says, "God has honored me". 15 But when He tries him, by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me!" 16 (Since wealth does not necessarily guarantee everlasting happiness) then why do you not show kindness to the orphans, 17 Nor urge upon each other the feeding of the poor, 18 And ye devour heritages with devouring greed. 19 And ye love wealth with inordinate love! 20 Most certainly when the earth is smashed and blown to bits. 21 and [the majesty of] thy Sustainer stands revealed, as well as [the true nature of] the angels; rank upon rank? 22 And hell is made to appear on that day. On that day shall man be mindful, and what shall being mindful (then) avail him? 23 He shall say, 'O would that I had forwarded for my life!' 24 So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment, 25 none shall bind as He binds. 26 (It will be said to the pious): "O (you) the one in (complete) rest and satisfaction! 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], 28 Enter thou among My bondmen! 29 "Yea, enter thou My Heaven! 30
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
