The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
