The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And wide eyed houris 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and shade extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
