[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lout (Lot) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 161 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 162 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 163 And I do not ask you any reward for it; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds; 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 leaving aside those whom Allah has created for you as your mates. Nay, you are a people that has transgressed all limits." 166 They said: If thou cease not, O Lot, thou wilt soon be of the outcast. 167 He said, "I certainly hate what you practice. 168 My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do." 169 Then We delivered him and all his family 170 save an old woman among those that tarried; 171 then We destroyed the others. 172 And We rained on them a rain (of torment). And how evil was the rain of those who had been warned. 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 175
