The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
