۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?" 52 They answered: "We found our forefathers worshipping them." 53 He said: Certainly you have been, (both) you and your fathers, in manifest error. 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said: "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them and of that I am one of the witnesses. 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 He broke them all into pieces, except for the biggest one of them, so that they might return to it [for enquiry]. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers." 59 They said, 'We heard a young man making mention of them, and he was called Abraham.' 60 "Bring him before the people," they said, "that they may bear witness." 61 They said: "Are you the one who has done this to our gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)?" 62 He answered, "Rather this biggest one of them did it. Ask them, if they can speak." 63 Then gathered they apart and said: Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers. 64 Again they were inverted upon their heads; saying, “You know well that these do not speak.” 65 He said: Worship ye then instead of Allah that which cannot profit you at all, nor harm you? 66 Shame on you and on that you worship other than Allah! Have you no understanding' 67 They said: "Burn him, and save your gods, if you are men of action." 68 'O Fire' We said, 'be coolness and safety for Abraham' 69 They wished to entrap him, but We made them greater losers. 70 We took Abraham and Lot safely to the land in which We had sent blessings to the worlds. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac and, as an additional gift, (a grandson), Jacob, and We made righteous men of every one (of them). 72 And We made them leaders to guide (the people) by Our command; and We inspired them to perform good deeds and observe their moral obligations and pay the zakat; and they obeyed Us. 73 And unto Lot we gave judgment and knowledge, and We delivered him from the community that did abominations. Lo! they were folk of evil, lewd. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy, truly, he was of the righteous. 75
