Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- 10 the people of Pharaoh, will they not fear God? 11 He replied, "Lord, I am afraid that they will call me a liar. 12 and "my breast is straitened and my tongue is not fluent; so send Aaron as well; 13 They have charged me [with a crime] for which I am afraid they will kill me." 14 [Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening. 15 So go ye twain unto Fir'awn and say: verily we are the apostles of the Lord of the Worlds, 16 let the Children of Israel go with us!'" 17 The Pharaoh said, "Did we not bring you up in our home as an infant and did you not live with us for many years 18 And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful." 19 Moses said: "I did it then, when I was in error. 20 and I fled from you because I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me one of the messengers. 21 And this is the favour with which you taunt me -- that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?" 22 The Pharaoh asked, "Who is the Lord of the Universe?" 23 [Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced." 24 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Do you not hear (what he says)?" 25 Said Moosa, “Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers preceding you.” 26 (Pharaoh) said: "Truly your messenger who has been sent to you is a veritable madman!" 27 Moses continued: "(He is) the Lord of the east and the west, and all between them. If you only had any understanding!" 28 (Pharaoh) said: "If thou dost put forward any god other than me, I will certainly put thee in prison!" 29 Said he: "Even if I should bring about before thee something that clearly shows the truth?" 30 [Pharaoh] answered: "Produce it, then, if thou art a man of truth!" 31 So he cast down his rod, and lo! it was an obvious serpent, 32 and he drew forth his hand - and lo! it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
