The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruits abounding 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches; 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
