The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
A requester seeks the punishment that will take place – 1 those who deny the truth. [Know, then, that] nothing can ward it off, 2 From Allah, the Lord of all pinnacles. 3 The angels and the Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] ascend to Him in a Day the measure whereof is fifty thousand years, 4 But be patient (O Muhammad) with a patience fair to see. 5 They think that it (the Day of Judgment) is far away. 6 But We see it (quite) near. 7 On that Day the heavens shall become like molten brass, 8 And the mountains shall be as tufts of wool 9 And no familiar friend will ask a question of his friend 10 though they shall be within sight of each other. The guilty one will gladly ransom himself from the torment of that Day by sacrificing his own children, 11 And his wife and his brother 12 And his kin that harboured him 13 and all those on earth. 14 But nay! Verily, all [that awaits him] is a raging flame, 15 that will strip off the scalp. 16 and it will claim all those who turned their backs [on the true faith] and turned away [from the truth], 17 and amassed wealth and covetously hoarded it. 18 ۞ Surely man was created fretful, 19 When evil comes upon him he is impatient; 20 but when they are fortunate, they become niggardly 21 But not so the worshippers 22 Who persevere in devotion, 23 In whose wealth a due share is included 24 For the beggar who asks, and for the unlucky who has lost his property and wealth, (and his means of living has been straitened); 25 And those who believe in the Day of Judgment, 26 who are afraid of the torment of their Lord, 27 Surely the chastisement of their Lord is (a thing) not to be felt secure of-- 28 and those who guard their private parts, 29 Save in regard to their spouses or those whom their right hands own; so verily they are not blameworthy 30 but those who go beyond that limit are transgressors; 31 (Those) who keep their trusts and their covenant, 32 And those who are in their testimonies upright 33 and who are constant in their prayers. 34 It is these who will be honoured in Gardens. 35
