Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching person (a believer). 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We are able to shape again his fingers. 4 But man would fain deny what is before him. 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 So when the sight becomes dazed, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 when the sun and moon are gathered together 9 On that day man will cry out, “Where shall I flee?” 10 No, there shall be no (place of) refuge. 11 With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest. 12 On that Day the human shall be informed of his former and latter deeds. 13 In fact, people are well-aware of their own soul 14 And even if he presents all the excuses he has, none will be listened to. 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 It's explanation is upon Us. 19 Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but (you men) love the present life of this world, 20 and give no thought to the life to come [and to Judgment Day]! 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 knowing that a crushing calamity is about to befall them. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
